Designing for Stronger Local Leadership
A design project exploring leadership development for local nonprofit leaders in the Global South.
Welcome to my design blog for the Design course in the Master’s programme in ICT-based Educational Design at Aarhus University. This is where I share the process behind my project as it unfolds — from early reflections and research to design ideas and work in progress.
At the heart of this project is an interest in how design can support stronger local leadership in nonprofit contexts shaped by limited resources, changing funding conditions, and complex partnerships. My focus is on leadership development for local nonprofit leaders in the Global South.
I use the term Global South as a broad way of referring to countries and regions shaped by histories of colonization, unequal access to resources, and ongoing global power imbalances. The upside-down world map on this front page is included as a small reminder that the way we usually see the world is not neutral. Perspective matters, and this project seeks to look at leadership and development from the standpoint of the communities and contexts it is meant to serve.
